The best AI passes 37% of real engineering tasks. Most people would pass none

/u/ZeroCool86

Measured result 98%Usable today 59%First-party 36%
Abstract

Xplore released RWE-bench today, 20 mechanical, electrical and aerospace tasks written by engineers who do this for a living. One is a diesel crankshaft that has to survive 2,400 rpm, one is routing a DDR3 memory bus on a real FPGA board, and one is CFD on a turbine vane. No model grades the results. A program checks every design against every requirement and runs physics solvers where it has to. GPT-6 Astra leads at 37%, Opus 5.5 is at about 29% and GPT-6.1 Sol at about 25%, for $10 a run. Astra and Opus cost about six times that per run for 12 and 4 more points. 37% sounds low until you ask how a person would do. Give someone off the street the same tasks and tools and they pass none, because they won’t get past drawing the part in CAD and running the simulation. An engineering graduate might get one or two in their own field after a month of work. A specialist would pass the ones in their own field, about a third, at roughly a week each. The model does some of all three fields in a few hours a run. The human time and what they could do are my own rough estimate, Xplore doesn’t publish a human score. (but i think they should next time!) Code got good fast because you can check the answer, and most physical engineering has a much longer feedback loop than code. There’s still a lot of work to do, but now it’s work with a scoreboard, and from what I’ve seen that’s what makes the next jump happen. I wrote up the tasks, the human comparison and why I think the grading matters more than who’s on top: https://www.anchorterminal.com/blog/rwe-bench-engineering submitted by /u/ZeroCool86 to r/singularity [link] [comments]

A 1.3B OCR model just hit 93.68 on real-world document parsing and there's now an AI judge for OCR errors

/u/Equivalent-Grass-527 · discussion

Measured result 98%Usable today 92%First-party 55%
Abstract

Most OCR models focus on reading documents. MiniCPM-OCR adds a second piece: a model that checks whether the OCR result is actually trustworthy. OpenBMB just released two open-source models: MiniCPM-OCR 1.0 (1.3B): Scores 93.68 on Real5-OmniDocBench , targeting real-world documents like curved pages, phone photos, tilted scans, and complex layouts. DSpark decoding acceleration boosts end-to-end processing efficiency by 55%. MiniCPM-OCR Jev (2B): An OCR quality judge that compares the original image with candidate text, catching errors in formulas, tables, and text. It achieves 0.936 AUROC , close to a 397B-parameter model on the same evaluation. The interesting part is Jev can also evaluate outputs from other OCR systems, so you don't necessarily have to replace your existing pipeline. Both models are open source, with support for vLLM, SGLang, llama.cpp, and Ollama. Introducing H3 Relay Hires node: 0.5 → 2 MP anime upscaler, ~4x faster than native, with a full 20-step pass 1 (no turbo LoRA needed for the take)

/u/crinklypaper

Measured result 97%Usable today 92%First-party 43%
Abstract

Repo: https://github.com/tazmannner/ComfyUI-H3-RelayHires (MIT, 8 example workflows) Also I started posting lots of progress on more anime stuff I'm doing in open source on twitter: https://x.com/tazmannner I worked with claude to make this tutorial video and write up. This is still a work in progress and appreciate any constructive feedback. I got tired of waiting 8+ minutes for every 1920 H3 clip, so I made a hires method for it: a 2 MP clip about 4x faster than a native render. It doesn’t rely on running the whole render on a low-step LoRA, which in my experience brings trade-offs like poorer motion and distorted visuals or colors. You render the take at 0.5 MP like a preview. If you like it, the same take gets finished at 1920x1088, and the audio stays exactly as you heard it. On a 5090, for a 5 s clip at 1920x1088, end to end: Render type time native 1920 render ~500 s 1 MP + latent upscale + refine ~240 s Relay Hires ~118 s Relay Hires + Fast Tail Sampler ~107 s How it works. It's all one node: Pass 1 at 0.5 MP. This is where H3 decides the layout, motion, acting and audio, and it's where most of the time goes. You approve the take here. AnimeSR upscale to 1920 (~2 s). It's a tiny upscaler I trained from scratch, and it's included in the repo. H3 draws ~2 px ink lines at every resolution, so normal upscalers give you lines twice too thick and mushy small faces. AnimeSR is trained to undo exactly that. One H3 turbo step at 1920 (DMAD LoRA, from sigma 0.60). This redraws the detail at full size. The pass-1 audio is pinned, so the soundtrack is identical. The H3 step only redraws detail, so you get the take you previewed, not a new one. A latent upscale + refine can change faces and poses; this doesn't. Smeared fast frames and tiny faces in wide shots also come out clean. Still lines barely shimmer: 0.13 frame to frame, vs 0.10 native and 0.22 for the 1 MP route. Honest limits: Line weight: ink lines are a bit bolder than a native 1920 render. Very fast action: if the 0.5 MP take itself melts (a sword clash), the relay gives you motion blur there, not crisp poses. Example workflow 2 fixes those frames first with a de-rope pass. Anime only: it's built for 2D anime. I haven't tried realistic stuff. Bonus: pass 1 ~20% faster. The pack also has an H3 Fast Tail Sampler . H3 decides the take in its first 12 of 20 steps, so those run exactly like euler, and the last 8 become 4 second-order steps. Same take, 58 → 47 s for pass 1. If you'd rather not install it, the README shows how to wire the same thing with stock nodes. How to use it You need: MiniMax H3 in ComfyUI. (Duh) The DMAD 4-step turbo LoRA for H3 (Kijai's MiniMax-H3-experimental repo on Hugging Face). taeh3 (Kijai's MiniMax-H3-TAE) and a loader for it. The examples use the one from ComfyUI-H3-FastDerope . VideoHelperSuite and comfyui_essentials . (not a hard requirement but reccomended) Steps: git clone https://github.com/tazmannner/ComfyUI-H3-RelayHires into custom_nodes . The AnimeSR model is already inside. Open example workflow 1 ( 1_relay_hires.json ). It's the simplest one and doesn't need any of my other packs besides FastDerope's taeh3 loader. In the blue SETTINGS group: write your prompt (one box, used everywhere), and leave the size at 0.5 MP and the hires scale at 2.0 . Queue. You get the 0.5 MP preview and the 1920 final. Optional (See below) but you can just integrate the workflow into your existing workflow quite easily. And it works for both FLV2A and REF since the magic is done mostly in the 2nd pass. Tip: keep the seed fixed. Mute the Relay Hires node and the final save (Ctrl+M) while you try prompts and seeds, then unmute when you like the preview. ComfyUI reuses the finished pass 1, so you only pay for the relay. Adding it to your own workflow. Put the H3 Relay Hires node after your pass 1 and connect: model: your pass-1 model (same LoRAs and shift) plus the DMAD LoRA at 0.8. positive: your pass-1 conditioning. latent: the pass-1 sampler output. The audio comes from here. images: your decoded pass-1 frames. vae: taeh3. Then LTXV Separate AV Latent → VAE Decode. Keep the defaults: AnimeSR, sigma 0.60, 1 step, window 0. The other example workflows each add one stage before the relay: 2: de-rope, for fast-motion smears (144 s). 3: + FaceDetail, for small faces (224 s). 4: + Anime Cadence, for 2s/3s holds (228 s). 5-8: the same four with the Fast Tail Sampler. Those need my other packs, linked in the README (3-4 also use two small helper nodes from ResCascade, to put the faces and holds onto the 1920 frames). If there is interest I may make posts on these later, they all have their uses depending on the situation. I've also used it for: Character swap / ref2va: works unchanged. A 12-shot, 22 s character-swap recast at 1920 took only ~3 min more than the same run at 0.5 MP. 15 s clips and multi-scene chains: relayed part by part. Bonus: my other anime packs for H3 All free, and they work with the relay (example workflows 2-4 use them): Fast De-rope : fixes H3's fast-motion smearing and melting. A motion gate finds the fast moments and redraws only those, then splices them back into your render. On one 10 s clip with a single fast kick, the fix cost +12 s instead of +202 s. The de-rope itself is matlowai's MAINodes ; this pack makes it cheaper and cleaner so credit to him for his great work. Anime Cadence : makes H3 move like hand-drawn anime. It puts drawings on 2s/3s where H3 slips into a new picture every frame, and keeps the sharpest frame of each held drawing. A character-only mode holds the character while the background and camera keep moving smoothly. Everything here is on a 5090 with 96 GB RAM. I haven't tested smaller cards, so I'd love to hear how it runs on yours. Built with a lot of help from Claude (Claude Code), which did a ton of the testing and measuring. submitted by /u/crinklypaper to r/StableDiffusion [link] [comments]

It takes text, images, and video as input, and combines the LFM3 language model with a new in-house vision encoder. New in LFM3-VL-2B: Video understanding: the first LFM vision model that takes video as input. Ask questions about a recorded lecture, a walkthrough filmed on your phone, or a clip from a camera feed. Thinking: the model reasons step by step before it answers. This helps most with harder visual questions, such as math, charts, and multi-step problems. Spatial and embodied reasoning: the model finds objects and reasons about how they are placed relative to each other, a strong foundation for robotics applications. https://huggingface.co/LiquidAI/LFM3-Audio-2B LFM3-Audio-2B is a compact, fully featured audio model that runs locally on laptops and edge devices . It takes text or audio as input and responds with text, speech, or both. Voice chat: ask questions aloud and receive streaming replies in text and speech. For text-only responses, the model can reason before answering. Multilingual speech: transcribe, synthesize, and translate speech across 18 languages. Audio understanding and reasoning: interpret recordings and answer questions about the speech, sounds, and events they contain. Tool calling: turn spoken requests into tool calls to control apps and devices, with text or speech alongside the calls. LFM3-Audio-2B introduces an in-house audio encoder and LiquidCodec audio tokenizer, improving speech quality over LFM2.5-Audio. https://huggingface.co/LiquidAI/LFM3-Omni-2B LFM3-Omni-2B is Liquid AI 's first omni-modal model in the LFM3 family: a single end-to-end model that understands text, images, video and audio , and answers in text and speech . It is built for on-device use: one model replaces a separate ASR model, vision-language model, LLM and TTS model. Any input, text or speech output: ask about a photo by voice, transcribe or translate speech, chat out loud, or ask questions about a video and its soundtrack together. Watches and listens together: for videos with sound, the model sees and hears them at the same time, so it can answer questions that need both. It returns calibrated answers in one forward pass, without generating tokens. Native audio: clips and spoken questions go through the same pass as text and pictures, and spoken questions score within 0.5 points of written ones on unseen tasks. Beyond classification: it also extracts text, numbers, and dates with their span, locates objects in pictures, and estimates quantities with an interval. Millisecond decisions: 5.8 ms per decision on an NVIDIA H100 and 3.7 ms on an AMD MI325X, or 12.4 ms and 8.2 ms with a 10-second clip. https://huggingface.co/LiquidAI/d1-2B d1-2B is a decision model for text, pictures, and video , built on LFM3-VL-2B . It returns calibrated answers in one forward pass, without generating tokens. Ling-3.1-flash-1019 weights are out, and they released the base model too

/u/BerryBlush_Rogers691

Measured result 96%Usable today 93%
Abstract

Well, “coming soon” turned out to be five days. I posted the earlier announcement last week. The 1019 weights are now on Hugging Face . Still 560B total, 25B active, with a 1M context window. This is the update they reported at 44 on the AA Intelligence Index v4.3.2, up from 41. AutomationBench-AA went from 62% to 68%, according to the release. They also put out Ling-3.1-flash-base in BF16 for further training. Glad they included that. It gives people a starting point for their own post-training instead of having to start with the finished chat model. One small gotcha: the SGLang example in the 1019 README currently still points to inclusionAI/Ling-3.1-flash . Change the model path to inclusionAI/Ling-3.1-flash-1019 if you're copying that command for the new checkpoint. submitted by /u/BerryBlush_Rogers691 to r/LocalLLaMA [link] [comments]

Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5 (major update)

/u/ResearchCrafty1804

Measured result 95%First-party 69%
Abstract

Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index has been updated to v5, which according to them is a major upgrade resulting in a more accurate ranking. Notably, this update widens the gap between open-weight models and closed ones. Some people already questioning its accuracy based on their experiences with models (GPT-Terra-6.1 > Fable-5.1). Also, this update, v5, has 60% of the Index based on evaluations with private test sets or held-out answers, which makes reproducing the results impossible. From their announcement: “The open weights gap widens from 3 points to 12: Kimi K3.1 Pro (weights not yet released) is the top open weights model at 46. Among released weights, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 (max) and GLM-5.3 (max) lead at 32 - 26 points behind the leader and below Claude Haiku 5.5 (max, 36)” submitted by /u/ResearchCrafty1804 to r/LocalLLaMA [link] [comments]

Claude Code reverse-engineered the Xbox 360 kernel and wrote a native driver so Series X|S controllers work on it

/u/Hot-Ad2974

Usable today 90%
Abstract

Microsoft's Xbox Wireless Adapter (the USB dongle for Series X|S controllers) has never worked on an Xbox 360. It's a MediaTek Wi-Fi chip that relies on the host for everything: firmware upload, radio setup, pairing, an ECDH security handshake and Microsoft's GIP controller protocol. On PC that's Microsoft's driver, on Linux it's xone. The 360 had nothing. I wanted it on my modded 360 (kernel 17559), so I built it with Claude Code. It's free and open source (GPL-3.0) : https://github.com/Jacckii/Xbox360-Series-Controllers-Native What it does: up to 4 Series X|S controllers connect wirelessly to the 360 as normal controllers, with rumble and a working Guide button, in the dashboard and in games. It loads at boot, just Microsoft's own adapter, nothing in between. What Claude did Reverse-engineered the 360 kernel's undocumented USB stack (Usbd) and XAM's input path in Ghidra through an MCP server: the runtime USB class-driver list, transfer block layouts, which callbacks run on which DPC, and the callback table XAM uses for the Guide button Ported xone's MT76 radio code, pairing, ECDH P-256 handshake and GIP protocol into portable C, and wrote the 360 side as a kernel-mode system DLL Wrote PowerPC function hooks (instruction relocation into trampolines) to feed the controllers into XInput Debugged it on the live console by reading memory over the debug monitor Bugs it tracked down The toolchain saves registers as 32-bit values, the kernel expects 64-bit ones → asm thunks around every kernel callback Kernel DPCs have no floating-point context, but variadic functions spill FP registers anyway → soft-float, plus a build check that fails on any FP instruction Pressing Guide deadlocked the console: the thread feeding XAM input was also calling into XAM → every XAM call moved to its own thread on another hardware thread The driver thread starved while the guide was open → it found the kernel clamps system threads to priority 9 and raised the driver to that An adapter plugged in before boot was ignored → it found the kernel's list of unclaimed USB devices and the routine that offers them to drivers again How the workflow went Give it eyes on the target. The driver writes a status block and a log ring into memory, and Claude read them over the network after every test. Give it the right tools. Ghidra MCP for the kernel, the cross-compiler, and the console's debug port. It ran the build → upload → read logs loop on its own. Make mistakes fail the build. Each rule it learned the hard way became a check in the build script, so fixed bugs stayed fixed. I was the hands. Plugging the dongle, pairing controllers, rebooting the console when it hung, and describing what was on screen. I released it on r/360hacks a few hours ago ( thread here ), and a couple of people are ordering adapters to test it with their own controllers. Still early, so feedback is welcome. submitted by /u/Hot-Ad2974 to r/ClaudeAI [link] [comments]

Abstract

I mostly used claude to build Openjutsu, a free, local version of Higgsfield’s Genjutsu character swap, for Comfy’s Open Source Higgsfield challenge. Repo (MIT): https://github.com/D3voz/openjutsu What it does Upload a video and a picture of the person you want in it, then press Run. It finds the person, swaps them in clip by clip and keeps the original audio. There are also modes for: Object swap (change or remove an object, or change the background) From picture (put a person and a setting from one image into a video) Fix faces and Fix colours as post-processing How it’s built A Next.js web app that talks to ComfyUI through u/comfyorg /sdk and comfy-api-proxy MiniMax H3 does the video generation Qwen3-VL 8B looks at the frames and writes the prompts automatically SAM makes a mask of the person in each clip Long videos are split into overlapping clips and joined back together Setup Install the custom nodes and models listed in the README, start ComfyUI, then double-click start_openjutsu.bat . Before each run, the app checks that you have every node and model it needs. If something is missing, it tells you where to get it. Feedback and bug reports are welcome! If you are getting any errors- Update comfyui-h3-oneclick-swap. git pull Openjutsu. Week 13 of making fishing and exploration game - demo almost finished

/u/RUSuper

Measured result 85%Usable today 49%
Abstract

Hello there again :) This is Week 13 of me posting this "dev log" so to say and explaining how I do things and talking about progress. While "exploration" mechanic was added one week ago, I was finally able to make it feel like a proper completely equal part to fishing segment of the game. And with "Ship in a bottle" collection done to 29 out of 40 total ships I'm happy how this progress. As always weekly progress can be seen on my profile. DEMO DOWNLOAD - FREE Demo doesn't really have everything newest and most polished so you might not have ships in the bottles, that version is being kept for steam release which I will do once steam approves my ID verification (it already is exactly 1 month). Zone 1 out of 5 (demo) is almost entirely done, some smaller polish parts and bug fixes are left. What was done this week: This week I added curios, rarest ship in the bottle is actually cracking the walls of the bottle when shooting cannons and all the items in zone 1 are adjusted manually where they gonna drop or how they are earned. etc. Some zones were a bit improved as can be seen in the video to not look too boring even though there is no gameplay there. Engines with their own sounds were added and can be seen when changed. Cabinet new 3D scene with collections was fully fixed in terms of lighting and small island dioramas were made. As I mentioned before 29 of 40 ships in a bottles were created with textures and added to bottles. This time while still using Decisions.md like before that tags every decision in the game with [USER] or [PROPOSED] (By AI) And User ones have priority over proposed ones, helps with AI hallucinations in the project where AI can't gaslight you into telling you something was decided by you if it really wasn't (it has more than 350 decisions by now). I switched workflow a bit. This time I tried doing something else instead of my old "manager" session managing other sessions and sending them tasks. I created "Effort" sessions (Medium to Max) and have Jev decide which tasks goes into which effort level and then just "manager session" sending it to different effort levels and doing it this way. Though this is polish stage and not much was done it is hard to say if this is more token efficient than before, in general I feel no difference in quality or token usage than with my previous workflow, though that is just subjective feeling, somebody could test it properly I guess. Jev basically scans every task I give to my Claude sessions and just decides which effort certain tasks deserve. Models were made by TripoAI and Opus 5.5 via Blender MCP mostly for this week. It can be seen in the video. For example rarest ship that is inspired by Black Pearl and shoots cannons in the bottle was done in TripoAI then fixed a bit in Blender by Opus 5.5 . I do not use anymore any other AI other than Claude Opus 5.5 , no more Astra and didn't even try Gemini sadly, for now Opus is more than enough for my needs. People have asked me how I make textures and those are either directly done by ChatGPT using OpenAI API key provided to Opus 5.5 or in TripoAI , those done in Tripo are 1k textures as I don't need any heavier ones as they take a lot of memory. Total cost: Claude Max 200$ x 3 = 600$ Astra 100$ x 1 = 100$ ElevenLabs x 11$ = 11$ TripoAI 20$ x 2 = 40$ OpenAI API credits 70$ = 70$ Other things I forgot about 100$ = 100$ (around) Around 900-950$ Disclosure: I’ve been writing these devlogs since Week 1. Since Week 8, Tripo has been supporting them (paid collaboration + a gifted Max plan). That’s why my cost breakdown no longer includes Tripo (Except what I paid from my own pocked for first 8 weeks). If you’re doing this yourself, add their plan to the total. submitted by /u/RUSuper to r/ClaudeAI [link] [comments]

server: expose the reasoning effort levels of the chat template ( #31271 ) server: expose the reasoning effort levels of the chat template The capability probe renders a user turn for each candidate level (minimal, low, medium, high, xhigh, max) and for an unknown level. A level is honored when it renders without raising and differently from the unknown level, which shows the template fallback. Levels sharing a render are aliases and the highest one is kept. The caps serialize to JSON, and chat_template_caps in /props reports the list as reasoning_effort_levels, from lowest to highest. jinja: keep the caps free of the json dependency The caps keep reporting their flags as a map, and the effort levels stay a plain member. common_chat_templates_get_caps() builds the JSON the server reports from both, so jinja depends on json only for the probe inputs. Release [2026/10/27] 🚀 We release Unlimited OCR 2 , achieving unlimited-horizon parsing with SR-SWA. What's New in 2 Sparse Reference Sliding Window Attention (SR-SWA): Compresses text-visual attention interactions from ultra-long sequences down to a fixed-size set of working references (e.g., 512 tokens). This bounds computational complexity, keeping per-step decoding latency and memory footprint nearly constant regardless of document length. From Long- to Unlimited-Horizon Parsing: Powered by SR-SWA, Unlimited-OCR 2 achieves true, unbounded document parsing within a finite context window—effectively eliminating quadratic attention scaling and memory bottlenecks as documents grow. Ultra-Long Document Parsing SOTA: Achieves state-of-the-art performance across both dozens-of-pages benchmarks (e.g., MPDocBench) and extreme hundred-page benchmarks (e.g., MarathonDocBench). submitted by /u/pmttyji to r/LocalLLaMA [link] [comments]
