I made an app to find any photo on my laptop with Claude. I found it useful, so I thought I'd open source it

Abstract

The app was built mostly with Opus 5.5. It even made the launch video! Here's the repo: https://github.com/chaseleantj/orchard-photos Everything is fully local, and it works on Mac, Windows and Linux. A few small things I learnt from this project: - You can optimize performance A LOT. At first the pictures were taking a long time to index & load, and UMAP for the map also took a long time. After pushing it to aggressively optimize things, got it down to 8s/1k photos on my M5 Pro GPU, and 1 min on CPU only, and 5 min/1k photos on a regular Windows office laptop. - When making the launch video, it's still important that you steer it and give it a vision of what the end product should look and feel like. Otherwise it looks like a generic launch video. I asked for a more personal touch, and don't make it look like "a revolutionary product launch", cuz it's not. This helped it decide on the pacing, and make a suitable track for the bgm. - As good as Opus 5.5 is (it's amazing), there's still a ton of work to be done. Even with lots of custom skills, agents, and orchestration, it takes time to make a polished product (not that it's super polished atm). Most of the work was boring stuff, like declutterring, adding status indicators, hints etc to make it simple and intuitive for someone else to use. Well, lmk if you find it useful! submitted by /u/chasedev21 to r/ClaudeAI [link] [comments]

Abstract

v0.31.0 Highlights This release features 717 commits from 307 contributors (96 new)! DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash performance : FlashMLA mega attention with the V4.1 NVFP4 compressed KV cache is now the SM100 default ( #56935 ); DeepGEMM sparse MQA logits for the indexer ( #56254 ) and Mega-Gate fusing the gate GEMM with expert selection ( #56266 ); decoder boundaries fuse the TP all-reduce, mHC input preparation ( #57643 ) and the MoE finalize ( #58586 ); a fused small-batch WO-A with inverse RoPE and MXFP8 quant on SM100/SM103 ( #58634 ); the MXFP8 wo_b GEMM fused with the sequence-parallel reduce-scatter ( #57428 ); Engram wkv sharded across TP ranks ( #58678 ) and Engram host tables shared across co-located DP replicas by default ( #57651 ); encoder CUDA graphs for the vision tower ( #56625 ); and SWA bounded replay that keeps the sliding-window KV out of prefix caching ( #56227 ). Fast restart : the new vllm preload CLI launches the weight-cache daemon that keeps post-quantized weights resident in GPU memory across engine restarts ( #56680 ), now with data parallelism ( #57386 ), MTP draft models ( #57312 ), a /health endpoint ( #58552 ) and a readiness wait ( #58370 ). Experimental initialized-engine snapshots ( vllm snapshot create/restore ) use CRIU to restore a fully initialized TP1 engine ( #51360 ). Model Runner V2 and speculative decoding : draft-model speculative decoding ( #43091 ) and custom logits processors ( #56497 ) on Model Runner V2; the new LiLiCorr drafter ( #57934 ); async scheduling for DFlash ( #58065 ) with the context K/V precompute captured in the draft CUDA graph ( #57632 ); DSpark adaptive verification for Gemma4 ( #57263 ) and variable-length decode for Kimi-K3 ( #52988 ); a DCP target with a non-DCP DSpark draft ( #56723 ); and MoE memory now counted during MRV2 profiling, avoiding OOMs on WideEP deployments ( #57270 , #58411 ). Large scale serving : MoonEP balanced EP all2all backend via --all2all-backend moonep ( #52101 ), prefill context parallelism with data parallelism ( #57075 ), a low-SM multimem reduce-scatter for SM100/SM103 ( #55072 ), DeepEPv2 with sequence parallelism ( #57210 ) and EPLB with shared-expert overlap ( #57236 ), a sharding-aware NCCL M2N weight-transfer backend for RL ( #51520 ), and KV offloading back-pressure detection ( #50045 ). Scheduling controls : --max-num-active-seqs caps RUNNING admission independently of max_num_seqs ( #56758 ), --long-prefill-token-threshold now adapts to the number of waiting prefills instead of chunking a lone request ( #57951 , #58459 ), the waiting queue was reworked so requests already holding KV blocks are scheduled first ( #58947 ), and the KV connector + MTP deadlock under KV pressure was fixed ( #57104 ). HiSparse hardening : MTP verification rows resolved with a union residency kernel ( #59235 ), MTP acceptance collapse under FULL graphs fixed ( #59309 ), no GPU pages without host backing ( #59036 ), a chunked-prefill preemption livelock fixed ( #59494 ), KV cache sized from the groups HiSparse allocates ( #59450 ), and host prefix publication and GPU prefix adoption fixes ( #59007 , #59282 ). Security : per-request mm_processor_kwargs and media_io_kwargs are rejected unless --trust-request-mm-kwargs is set ( #58830 ); prefix-cache extra keys are tagged by source so a LoRA name and a cache_salt can no longer collide ( #51899 ), and the LoRA path is part of the block hash ( #59335 ); stale multimodal receiver-cache entries can no longer replace fresh payloads ( #57833 ). Breaking changes : per-request multimodal kwargs gated ( #58830 ); tokenizer_mode="slow" removed ( #58545 ); --enable-mamba-fine-grained-prefix-cache renamed to --enable-mamba-shared-prefix-checkpoint ( #57382 ); online quantization through quantization="fp8" replaced by the fp8_per_tensor shorthand ( #53585 ) and Quark silent online quantization removed ( #51800 ); the AllSpark INT8 W8A16 backend removed ( #58001 ); --enforce-eager now also disables JIT kernel warmup ( #58197 ); XPU graphs enabled by default with VLLM_XPU_ENABLE_XPU_GRAPH removed ( #51600 ). llama.cpp support for Cohere models

/u/nick_frosst · discussion

Abstract

Hey guys, Nick here from Cohere. It's been a minute. We had a great time launching Command A+ and beta-testing North Mini Code with you guys earlier this year, your feedback has really helped make our models and delivery much better. one of the biggest things we heard was that you really wanted llama.cpp support, which makes total sense given the nature of this sub. i didn't want to post in here again until we'd been able to fulfill that promise, and I'm really happy to say that we've made progress. Our team recently merged llama.cpp support for the vision encoder of North Micro Vision Instruct , which means that now all of our latest model architectures are compatible with llama.cpp (the LLM is the same arch as for North Mini Code and Command A+ - already supported thanks to the work of people like you guys). North Micro Vision is being used as the base for several of our new releases, and i'm really psyched to say we've got the support you guys have been wanting. Please feel free to try it out and let us know what you think. It's just one step, but there's only more where that came from. On a slightly similar note, Cohere Transcribe is now available in Unsloth and Unsloth Studio for fine-tuning. it's a crazy good STT model, one of the best out there, so if you're a fan of the guys over at r/unsloth (i know we are), give it a whirl. Thanks again for all your feedback, and let us know what else you want to see from Cohere. submitted by /u/nick_frosst to r/LocalLLaMA [link] [comments]

24GB is plenty if your engines take turns

Abstract

System service that watches your card, swaps and loads whatever you want, whenever you want. Don’t have to swap anything manually, collisions avoided, VRAM fully dedicated to each function while it’s running (no VRAM squatters). I had issues everyday (Linux) where a node process would orphan, comfyUI auto starts and holds 500MB that strata can’t claim. I also wanted to be able to switch natively and not have to think about starting each engine, making sure strata or llama wasn’t stuck loaded, or flux GGUF’s still claimed in comfyUI from an old workflow. I swap between Ninfer-4090 (llama-swap), strata, comfyUI, OpenWebUI, and I do it between multiple devices all using the same RTX 4090. Maybe you want to have your box run Hermes at night and you take the card back in the day, you can do it natively without thinking about and have full visibility on what was done and when. Berth will also serve your engines as an API so when you need to switch natively you load berth as the API endpoint and you can load strata, polystrata, and any other custom engine. Works for gaming as well, you don’t have to worry about a cron job, a request, or anything grabbing the card while you’re gaming or doing custom workflows. Context.dev: bootstrapped to YC and a $9M seed round

/u/context_dev

First-party 91%Measured result 88%Usable today 83%
Abstract

Hey r/saas , I'm Yahia, used to post here a ton while building random stuff on the internet for years. One of those projects was stockalarm.io, which I grew to 250,000 users and sold. Plenty of the others went absolutely nowhere (tons of fun though)... Eventually I bootstrapped Brand.dev. Give us a domain, get back logos, colors, fonts, and company info. Customers started asking us to pull more data from websites, and we kept saying yes. That grew into context.dev We went through YC S26, grew to 7 people, and built infrastructure that now handles millions of requests an hour across search, web scraping, crawling, and structured data. There’s a ridiculous amount of engineering behind that. Very proud of what the team’s built. But the biggest thing I’ve learned in a market this competitive is how much comes from staying close to customers.. For me, that’s meant: > personally taking 300–400 customer/lead calls a month, my calendar is a disaster most days. > talking to the same people again after they’ve actually used the product. You learn a lot on the second and third call. > understanding what they’re trying to do. a GTM use-case and infra making millions of requests have very different needs, we support both! > being an absolute lunatic about support, help someone always, even suggest solutions that aren't yours simply to be helpful (this one works wonders for people trusting you) Those conversations keep giving us things to build and things to fix, then i'd get back on a call and find out how we did. We just raised a $9M seed round today and power over 800 customers from public companies to indiehackers building their first saas, a pretty absurd journey from a little API that returned logos. Would love to answer any questions that people may be curious about, whether it's bootstrapping, going through YC, or raising all this money. P.S: everyone who signs up today gets 50,000 requests context.dev submitted by /u/context_dev to r/SaaS [link] [comments]

Abstract

Sharing is caring! Not my project. I saw it on X and tried it on my TCL Beyond TV, which was super slow. I used Claude to do it, and it worked: ads and bloatware are gone, and I now have a clean launcher. It's free, open source (MIT), needs no root, and has a restore script if you change your mind. Close the lid and go: my MacBook keeps running Claude Code on 4.8 W or less

/u/CyrisXD

Measured result 89%Usable today 85%First-party 43%
Abstract

I like to kick off Claude Code, shut the lid and head out. The catch is battery: with the lid open, my Mac draws 16.7 W just on idle, and the screen eats most of it. So I built Pilot Light, an advanced caffeinate aimed at power savings. Close the lid and the screen goes dark, Low Power Mode switches on and Claude keeps working on 4.8 W, so a battery that would last about 6 hours lasts 20+. With Claude Code building the website and testing every feature through a headless Playwright browser, lid shut, it measured 2.3 W. Claude helped me work out how to build the safety features and fallbacks, and which macOS flags to watch so the app can spot those situations and react. So it lets the Mac sleep if it gets seriously hot in a bag or the battery drops below your limit, and puts everything back when you open the lid. It's free, with no tracking, no telemetry and no accounts. It's MIT licensed and in beta, and so far it's only been tested on my M5 Max. Abstract

I've been building whatmodel.sh , an open source AI leaderboard, and wanted to see how a labs' own benchmark scores compare with independent testers. Using 1,629 published benchmark results, I matched 611 comparisons of 180 models on 103 benchmarks. AI labs reported scores 6.4% higher on average for the same models on the same tests. Everything is open: the dataset is CC BY-SA 4.0 and the code is MIT. Sources and their licenses are recorded, with links on each model's page. Abstract

Release v5.15.0 New Model additions Meta Muse Glimmer Muse Glimmer, released today, is Meta’s new multimodal model, especially designed for agentic use cases. Distilled from Muse to 30B parameters, and released under the Apache 2.0 license, it can be deployed to local setups for privacy-aware applications such as coding, document analysis, personal assistants, Claw- or Hermes-like setups. Muse Glimmer is a dense 30B parameter model consisting of: 2B ViT-style encoder for vision (Perception Encoder) 28B parameter text decoder We're covering it in the following blogpost: http://hf.co/blog/muse-glimmer GraniteMoeSWA & GraniteSWA Links: Documentation Add Granite-swa and Granitemoe-swa model support ( #47179 ) by @daviswer in #47179 Links: Documentation Add Granite-swa and Granitemoe-swa model support ( #47179 ) by @daviswer in #47179 A.X-K1 & A.X-K2 Links: Documentation Add AXK2 from SKT ( #47528 ) by @vasqu in #47528 Links: Documentation add_axk1 ( #46867 ) by @kmswin1 in #46867 Cosmos3 Edge Links: Documentation Add Cosmos3 Edge model support ( #47181 ) by @atharvajoshi10 in #47181 Breaking changes Kernels are now opt-in rather than mandatory for linear attention models (Mamba, GDN, Conv-only, etc.), so users who relied on automatic kernel selection must explicitly enable kernels to maintain previous behavior. 🚨 [ Kernels ] Refactor all linear attn models & native kernels fallback ( #47630 ) by @vasqu The cache cropping API now only accepts negative values (relative offsets) instead of absolute sizes, so users calling crop methods directly must update their code to pass negative values accordingly. 🚨 [cache] Cropping can only be done with negative values ( #47720 ) by @Cyrilvallez T5 and its model family (MT5, LongT5, etc.) now support SDPA and other attention backends via ALL_ATTENTION_FUNCTIONS , meaning the default attention implementation may change and users relying on the previous eager-only path should explicitly set attn_implementation="eager" if needed. 🚨 Enable SDPA (and other attention backends) for T5 and propagate to the T5 family ( #47014 ) by @jiqing-feng Several small private helper functions (e.g., _is_url , _build_image_tokens ) have been removed from multimodal processor files, so users or downstream libraries that imported these private functions directly must remove or replace those references. 🚨 Processors update the rest ( #46556 ) by @zucchini-nlp Attention This release includes several attention fixes and improvements, including correcting Multi-Head Latent Attention (MLA) cache compression, optimizing Flash Attention max sequence length computation in vision models, and fixing bugs in CTRL flex-attention and SDPA prefill with position bias. Additional changes refactor linear attention models for better maintainability, make Gemma 4's heterogeneous attention config explicit, and improve MPS support via metal-flash-sdpa integration. Each hobby has some problems that can never be solved, and one of these for Nintendo fans is the plaque on the castle fountain in Super Mario 64, which has been the subject of debate since 1996 and has never reached a conclusion. It is essentially the gaming world's equivalent of a Millennium Prize problem. It is well known that the plaque says "L is real 2401", and this is allegedly an indication that Luigi is concealed in the game. However, no one has ever been able to verify what it states since the entire plaque is a 32 by 32 pixel texture and the letters are 3 to 5 pixels high. I worked on this using Claude as a coding agent. It wasn't used for image generation or for upscaling since those methods merely invent letters. Instead, we developed a forward model: we would enter a candidate text in the fonts typical of that era, reduce it exactly as a designer would have done in 1996, and then compare it with the actual pixels from the ROM. The most impressive aspect was the font. We looked at 470 fonts that a Nintendo artist might have had access to between 1993 and 1996, together with 4,583 modern fonts as a control group. The winning font was Palatino Bold Italic, specifically the original 1990 Adobe version. This wasn't by chance. Mario 64 was developed on SGI workstations, and SGI's system software was configured precisely for this Adobe Palatino. The Adobe font disc that it installs comes with the exact same letter metrics, byte for byte. Therefore, we didn't just discover the text; we identified the actual font file that the artist most likely used when typing it. The agent did some heavy lifting: Writing up the pipeline and research assistant rewrote the code so it can run on GPU Searching the web for thousands of old fonts and contemporary fonts set up blind tests against itself to make sure it wasn't fooling itself Result: "Eternal Star / We hope so". The phrase "L is real 2401" matches about twice as poorly on the first line by itself. The part that I prefer most was this: in order to make sure it wasn't simply picking out the word I had wanted, we had 50 secret words hidden in fake versions of the plaque and it managed to decode all of them correctly. All the components are open source, with a public challenge offering to beat the score: https://github.com/supermochi64/sm64-plaque-decode more details: https://github.com/supermochi64/sm64-plaque-decode/tree/main/press A year ago such a project would have taken a team several months; I carried it out in a couple of weeks with the help of an agent. submitted by /u/decorator to r/singularity [link] [comments]

Almost $500 in revenue this month!

Abstract

I'm 16, I built my SaaS between classes. Last 4 weeks: $460 gross revenue, 20+ paying customers, ~950 users, $0 ad spend. The tool: Siteless. Finds local businesses with no website, scores them 1-100, and now builds them a ready-to-host site with AI. What worked: a $1 3-day trial (filtered out everyone who'd never pay), answering questions in communities without pitching, and talking to users instead of following a roadmap. What flopped: Google disabled the account I'd built everything on (bot flag), killing my Product Hunt maker access and every social login in one afternoon. Also tried launching on every platform at once: TikTok signups kept failing, my YouTube channel got taken down on day one. Picked two channels after that and ignored the rest. Next goal: $500/mo recurring. Happy to answer anything. submitted by /u/swiftstoriestt to r/SaaS [link] [comments]

Release v5.16.1

vasqu

Usable today 82%First-party 74%Measured result 52%
Abstract

Release v5.16.1 This is a special release as we include GLM! (and a few small fixes) GLM-5.3-Flash GLM-5.3-Flash, the first natively multimodal model in the GLM-5 series. With 320B total parameters and just 18B active parameters, it outperforms GLM-5.2 across benchmarks and real-world workloads at one-tenth the price, while approaching Claude Opus 4.8 on coding and agentic benchmarks. GLM-5.3-Flash starts from a newly trained base model, with its architecture and training recipe redesigned around capability and efficiency. For the first time in the GLM series, we introduce a hybrid architecture combining sparse and linear attention, sharply reducing long-context serving costs while preserving precise long-context capabilities. The model also adopts Manifold-Constrained Hyper-Connections (mHC) to further improve scaling efficiency. Together with our latest 30T-token multimodal pre-training corpus, these changes enable GLM-5.3-Flash to deliver more intelligence with less compute.
